The best ski goggles

Good goggles make a bigger difference to a ski day than most people expect. Fogged-up or scratched lenses ruin visibility, flat light hides bumps, and cheap frames dig into your face. You do not need to spend $200 to fix that. The best value goggles on Amazon now have double anti-fog lenses, full UV400 protection and room for glasses.

We compared the best-selling ski goggles on Amazon on lens quality, anti-fog performance, fit over glasses, helmet compatibility and what thousands of skiers and snowboarders say. Below is one clear pair for each need, plus a lens color guide and tips to stop fogging.

If you want one answer: buy the OutdoorMaster OTG Ski Goggles. They are the most-reviewed ski goggles on Amazon, with a double anti-fog lens, 100% UV400 protection, a soft frame that fits over most glasses, and a long strap that works with any helmet. If you ski in very changeable light and want to swap lenses, step up to the OutdoorMaster PRO. For kids, the findway Kids Ski Goggles are sized for ages 5 to 16.

What makes a good pair of ski goggles?

Double lens with anti-fog coating. Two lenses with an air gap between them, plus an anti-fog coating on the inside, is the single biggest feature for clear vision. Single lenses fog much more easily.

100% UV protection. Snow reflects most of the sun’s UV light, so look for UV400 lenses. Every pick on this list has it.

The right lens tint. Dark mirrored lenses are for bright sun. Yellow, rose and amber lenses are for flat light and cloudy days. If you ski in both, choose a pair with interchangeable lenses.

Fit and comfort. Triple-layer face foam seals out wind and snow without pressing on your nose. If you wear glasses, choose OTG (over-the-glasses) goggles with cut-outs in the frame.

Helmet compatibility. A long, silicone-backed strap stays put on a helmet. Leave no gap between helmet and goggles, the so-called “gaper gap”, or your forehead will freeze.

Spherical or cylindrical lens. Spherical (curved both ways) lenses give a wider view with less distortion. Cylindrical (flat vertical) lenses are cheaper and still fine for most skiers.

Ski goggle lens color guide

Lens tintVLT (light let in)Best conditions
Black, dark grey, mirror5–15%Bright sun, bluebird days, high altitude

Rose, amber, orange25–50%Changeable light, overcast
Yellow, gold50–70%Flat light, fog, snowing

VLT means visible light transmission. The lower the number, the darker the lens. If you only buy one pair, a mid-range lens around 20 to 30% VLT handles most days.

  • LensDouble layer, anti-fog inner lens
  • UV100% UV400
  • GlassesOTG, fits over most glasses
  • FrameSoft TPU
  • Rating4.6★, 10,000+ ratings

Why we recommend it: It is the most-reviewed ski goggle on Amazon, and buyers keep praising the same things: clear vision, good fog resistance and a comfortable seal for the price. The extra-long strap fits every helmet, and the OTG frame means glasses wearers do not need prescription goggles. It comes in many lens colors so you can match your usual conditions.

OutdoorMaster Ski Goggles PRO

Best interchangeable lens

OutdoorMaster Ski Goggles PRO

You need this if: you ski in changing light and want to swap between a dark sunny-day lens and a bright flat-light lens.

  • LensLarge spherical, frameless
  • SwapInterchangeable (20+ lens options)
  • GlassesOTG design
  • ExtrasProtective case and pouch
  • Rating4.6★, 4,700+ ratings

Why we recommend it: The frameless spherical lens gives a much wider, cleaner field of view than budget cylindrical goggles, closer to premium brands. Swapping lenses takes seconds, so one pair can cover sun, cloud and snow. The hard case protects lenses in your bag, which helps them last.

Keep in mind: Extra lenses are sold separately. Budget for a second lens if you want both a sunny and a low-light option.

findway Kids Ski Goggles

Best for kids

findway Kids Ski Goggles

You need this if: you are buying for a child or young teen and want goggles that actually fit a small face and a kids helmet.

Keep in mind: These are basic goggles with a single-layer lens. Regular skiers will get better fog resistance and clarity from the OutdoorMaster or findway pairs.

How to stop ski goggles from fogging

  • Never wipe the inside lens. The anti-fog coating is on the inside. Wiping it, especially with a glove, removes the coating. Shake snow off and let it dry instead.
  • Keep them on your face. Goggles fog most when you push them up on a warm, sweaty forehead or hat. Keep them on your face or on your helmet.
  • Do not overheat. Open your jacket vents on the lift. Steam from your body is the main cause of fog.
  • Leave no gap. A gap between helmet and goggles pulls warm air across the lens.
  • Dry them at night. Let goggles air-dry in their pouch at room temperature, never on a heater.
  • Cover your mouth properly. Neck gaiters pulled over the nose push breath straight up into the goggles. Keep them below the nose.

Wearing glasses under ski goggles

OTG (over-the-glasses) goggles have a deeper frame and notches in the side foam so glasses arms fit without pressing on your temples. All of our adult picks are OTG. Choose glasses with thin, flexible frames, and apply anti-fog spray to the glasses too, as they can fog behind the goggle lens. Contact lenses avoid the problem altogether, and prescription inserts are another option for keen skiers.

How to choose goggle size

Goggles come in small, medium and large frames. Most adults wear medium. Larger frames give a wider view but need a larger face and helmet. The goggle should sit flat against your face with no gap at the nose or cheeks, and the top of the frame should line up with the brim of your helmet. Kids goggles are sized by age; buy for their current age rather than “to grow into”.

How to care for ski goggles

Store goggles in their soft pouch to protect the lens. Clean the outside lens with the pouch only, gently. Never use paper towels, shirts or glass cleaner, which scratch and strip coatings. Let wet goggles dry at room temperature with the strap loose, and do not leave them on a car dashboard, where heat can warp the frame.

Complete your ski kit

Goggles work best with a helmet that fits them properly; see our guide to the best ski helmets. For cold hands on the lift, see the best rechargeable hand warmers, and for extra core warmth, the best heated vests.

Our verdict

The OutdoorMaster OTG Ski Goggles are the best ski goggles for most people: clear, fog-resistant, glasses-friendly and great value. Choose the OutdoorMaster PRO to swap lenses, the findway OTG to save money with a mirrored look, the findway Kids for children, and the COOLOO 2 Pack for cheap family spares.

Ski goggles vs sunglasses

On a warm, sunny spring day, sunglasses can feel nicer than goggles. But goggles win almost every other time. They seal out wind, which stops your eyes watering at speed, they keep snow out when you fall or ride through powder, and their wraparound shape protects against branches and poles. Goggles also stay put on a helmet, while sunglasses can fly off in a crash. Most skiers carry sunglasses for the lodge and the lift line, and wear goggles on the mountain.

Are snowboard goggles different from ski goggles?

No. Ski and snowboard goggles are the same product, and every pair on this list works for both. Snowboarders sometimes prefer a slightly larger frame for more side vision, because they ride sideways and turn their heads more. Skiers going fast in cold wind may prefer a tighter face seal. Beyond that, choose by lens color, fit over glasses and fit with your helmet.

Got questions?

Frequently asked questions

Are cheap ski goggles worth it?

Yes, if they have a double anti-fog lens and full UV protection. Goggles like the OutdoorMaster OTG and findway OTG offer most of what everyday skiers need for far less than premium brands.

What color ski goggle lens is best?

Dark or mirrored lenses for sunny days, yellow, rose or amber for flat light and snow, and a mid tint around 20 to 30% VLT if you only own one pair.

Can you wear glasses under ski goggles?

Yes, with OTG goggles designed to fit over glasses. All of our adult picks are OTG.

How do I stop my goggles fogging up?

Keep them on your face, never wipe the inside lens, avoid gaps with your helmet, and do not cover your nose with a gaiter that pushes breath upward.

Do ski goggles fit any helmet?

Most do. Look for a long, adjustable strap with silicone grip, and make sure there is no gap between goggle frame and helmet brim.

Should kids wear ski goggles?

Yes. Kids’ eyes are more sensitive to UV, and goggles protect against wind, snow and branches. Choose a kids size that fits their helmet.
