Silicon carbide pickleball paddle

A power paddle for players ready to attack

A silicon carbide pickleball paddle mixes a hard grit into the face, so the texture can last longer than peel grit. The VANWIN T700 paddle pairs that grit with a 16mm EPP and EVA hybrid core, a long elongated shape and a two-handed grip. It is built for 3.5 to 4.0+ players, and VANWIN says so plainly.

Is this silicon carbide pickleball paddle right for you?

Choose it if:

  • You are a 3.5 to 4.0+ player who plays aggressive drives and put-aways.
  • You want grit that aims to outlast peel-style texture.
  • You use a two-handed backhand and want a long 5.7 in handle.
  • You are moving up from a mid-tier paddle.

Skip it if: you are under 3.5, or you want soft touch out of the wrapper. VANWIN itself says it is not for beginners. Look at our beginner sets, or at the softer VANWIN PRO T8 raw carbon paddle.

Is it USAPA approved?

The seller calls this paddle USAPA approved. We checked the USA Pickleball approved paddle list on 3 Nov 2026 and found VANWIN PRO T7, PRO T8 and alpha Power. This Amazon listing does not name its model, so we could not confirm which entry, if any, it matches. If you play in sanctioned events, ask the seller for the model name and check it on the list before you buy.

What silicon carbide grit does

Many carbon paddles get their texture from a peel-away layer, and that rough feel can smooth out with play. Silicon carbide, also called carborundum, is a hard mineral grit bonded into the surface. The aim is a bite on the ball that lasts longer. VANWIN says this T700 carbon fiber pickleball paddle generates 2000+ RPM, but that is the brand’s own figure. Your swing still does most of the work.

A hybrid core for power, not softness

Most 16mm paddles use a polymer honeycomb and feel plush. This one uses EPP foam with an EVA ring, and VANWIN describes it as stiff with above-average pop. That gives you heavy drives and fast put-aways. The cost is touch, and the brand says to expect 3 to 5 sessions before your kitchen game feels right. Plan for that, and do not judge it on day one.

How to care for a grit pickleball paddle

  • Wipe it with a damp cloth after play to clear dust and ball marks.
  • Do not sand it or scrub it, because grit can be worn down or changed.
  • Check event rules on surface roughness if you compete.
  • Keep it out of a hot car.

Got questions?

Frequently asked questions

Is a silicon carbide pickleball paddle legal?

Grit surfaces can be legal, but approval goes model by model. We could not confirm this listing on the USA Pickleball list, so check the exact model before an event.

Is this t700 pickleball paddle good for beginners?

No. VANWIN says it is not for players under 3.5, since the stiff, high-pop feel takes control to use well.

How heavy is it?

The listing says 7.9 oz in the details and 8.0 oz in the features, so expect about 8 oz.

Is it easy on the arm?

The brand says the EPP core reduces vibration. We have not tested that, so if you have arm pain, talk to a professional before you change gear.

Is it better than the PRO T8?

It depends on your game. Pick this one for power and the PRO T8 for control. Compare more options in our spin and control guide.

Final verdict: is this silicon carbide pickleball paddle worth it?

If you are a strong intermediate who attacks, and you do not need a confirmed tournament listing, this paddle has an unusual mix of grit and pop. If you compete, get the model confirmed first. If you are still building your dinks, the PRO T8 is the easier choice.
