Cactus League vs Grapefruit League

Half of MLB trains in Arizona and half in Florida.

  • Cactus League (Arizona): 15 clubs, almost all around the Phoenix area. Ballparks are close together, so you can often see two games in one day. Expect dry, sunny weather.
  • Grapefruit League (Florida): 15 clubs spread along both coasts, from the Tampa Bay area to Fort Myers and Palm Beach. Plan more driving between parks, and pack for humidity and the occasional rain delay.

Each club posts its own Spring Training schedule and ballpark on MLB.com.

Exhibition games before Opening Day

MLB has already scheduled several exhibition games for March 20–23, 2027, with more expected. They include the Angels at the Dodgers (Dodger Stadium, March 21), the Dodgers at the Angels (Angel Stadium, March 22–23), the Red Sox at the Giants (Oracle Park, March 22–23), and the Nationals and Orioles playing at each other's ballparks on March 21 and 22.

The labor deadline

MLB's labor agreement expires on December 1, 2026. If a new deal is not reached in time, a lockout could delay Spring Training, as happened in 2022 when camps opened weeks late. Book refundable travel until the situation is clear. We will update this page as soon as anything changes.

Tips for a Spring Training trip

  • Tickets are cheaper than regular-season games, and lawn seats are a great value for families.
  • Get there early. Morning workouts and batting practice are often open to fans, and autographs are easier to get than in the regular season.
  • Bring sun protection. Many seats have no shade, so pack a cap, sunglasses, sunscreen and water.
  • Bring a seat cushion or blanket for lawn seating and metal bleachers.
